GK eRotary Club Adopts the Mission of CURE Hospital Philippines

Updated: Jan 4, 2021

I became aware of CURE Philippines through an associate of mine, Cheri Platte, founder and Managing Director of Circle of Care, LLC, who is a volunteer fundraiser with the Sacred Harvest Foundation established by the well known Segerstrom Family. In one of the events Cheri and her husband hosted, I met retired Pastor Steve Perry, his wife Susie Segerstrom-Perry and the foundation team where they were honored for their philanthropic works that’s creating positive and lasting impact to thousands of Filipino families for over 15 years now. During that dinner, I gained a better understanding of the depth of their mission. What struck me the most was their humility and authenticity to their cause. They travelled the world to seek discernment on where to utilize their wealth to good use with a mindset to help communities flourish; “ to help create the right environment , so that it grows to accomplish God’s intended purpose”. Of all the countries they visited, it is heartwarming to note that the Segerstrom family set their sights to aid the poorest of the poor in the Philippines particularly, the Mindanao Area.

CURE International is a faith based non-profit organization that operates a network of charitable hospitals and programs in 12 countries worldwide. It was founded in 1996 with the mission to “heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom of God”. Countries chosen are usually “the most under resourced areas of the world where an estimated 20 million children are suffering needlessly from treatable conditions due to lack of access to care, and some without knowledge of the gospel of God”. CURE’s mission is not only to heal physically but also spiritually as the patients and their families journey towards their treatment and a better life.

Inspired by a common goal to evangelize and expand the kingdom of God, Sacred Harvest, CURE International and the Tim Tebow Foundation partnered to build the Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City, Philippines. The official grand opening was on May 1st, 2015. The hospital provides pediatric surgical care… helping chlldren with clubfoot, spinal deformities, bowed legs, knocked knees, broken bones and cleft lip and cleft palate repair. To date, the hospital has healed over 2800 children since its opening, usually on a subsidized basis if not free of cost to the patient’s families, for surgeries that can easily cost about $1200 per surgery. Even with the covid 19 pandemic, the hospital is treating an average of 20 kids per week.

Touched with Sacred Harvest’s and CURE’s undertakings in the Philippines, I introduced both to GK eRotary Club of which I am a Board Member. Timely, the Club is on a pursuit to support worthy causes in the Phiiippines and CURE fits perfectly. Recognizing the financial magnitude of CURE’s mission, GK eRotary Club unanimously agreed to adopt CURE Philippines as one of the Club’s fundraising projects in 2020 moving forward. After months of deciding the platform to use and designing the content, the fundraising campaign officially launched on December 2020 with this link:

The Givelively fundraising platform where interested fundraisers can easily duplicate the campaign, provide details of our campaign including Impact, Annual and Financial Accountability Reports with one-minute video explaining what CURE Philippines is all about and an appeal to join GK eRotary Club to meet the initial financial goal of $50,000. We are also honored to inform you that a private donor has committed to match every donation up to $50,000 doubling our effort to $100,000 and another donor has committed to picking up the tab of the processing fees, so all donations that are 100% tax deductible goes 100% for the treatment of the children. Please…do donate to our cause and help spread the word. Join us in a path where we find the joy and adventure of generosity could actually inspire and change the stories of so many lives for the better, both physically and spiritually. Thank you for your support.
