Bamboo Project of Father Ben

Father Benigno Beltran bamboo project was adopted by District 3780 Quezon City Rotary District, in which our club GKeRC is considering a one hectare bamboo plantation in Marikina watershed to help prevent flooding in the future.

Here's a look at devastated bamboo sanctuary near Wawa Dam with Mr. Butch Madarang, Executive Director of the PBIDC. The Philippine Bamboo Industrial Development Council, established under Executive Order 879, is headed by DTI Sec. Ramon Lopez, with representatives from the DENR, DA, DILG and other government institutions to build up the bamboo industry. The PBIDC is partnering with Mga Anak ni Inang Daigdig in planting giant bamboo in the 600 hectares given by PENRO-Rizal for bamboo reforestation, but first to engage in a river bank stabilization project so that the seedlings will not be washed away.

Father Ben thanking Butch Madarang, for getting Rotary Club District 3780 and the Inner Wheel Club to support bamboo planting project. Father Ben invited the bishops and priests of the Dioceses of Antipolo, Novaliches and Cubao with all the parish priests to sponsor the planting of bamboo (500 meters each parish on both sides of a river bank) in the river systems of Rizal. This has permission from Dr. Isidro Mercado, Provincial Officer of the DENR in Rizal. Albert Altarejos Magalang, Perlit Corpuz, Edgardo Manda, Fr. Ric Eguia.
